What Is Juicy Fruits?

Juicy Fruits is a fruit-themed 5x5 slot from Pragmatic Play, released March 25, 2021. It runs on 50 fixed paylines. The Crown Wild is the defining feature: it lands in the base game as a random-size block (1x1 through 5x5) and becomes a roaming Crown Wild during the free spins round. The game has no progressive jackpot, no win multipliers, and no cascade mechanic. What it has is a free spins structure where a roaming Crown Wild grows one size with every three scatters collected, and each growth step adds more paylines to every winning spin.

I'm Mia Stone. Fruit slots are not my usual territory - I spend most of my time on Hold and Win ladders and Egypt themes - but Juicy Fruits has one mechanic that pulled me in: a Crown Wild that can grow from a single grid position to cover all 25. Load it up and you are not looking at a standard slot cabinet. The reels sit inside a giant cocktail glass, ice cubes and orange slices visible behind the frame. I ran 1,717 spins in the Pragmatic Play demo at $2.50 per spin. Here is what the game actually does.

The max win is 5000x. Volatility is High, confirmed independently by Slotozilla, Time2play, and AskGamblers. RTP is 96.51%, published directly by Pragmatic Play on their official game page. Bet range goes from $0.25 to $150.

Grid and Paytable

The 5x5 grid runs 50 fixed paylines. Wins need three or more matching symbols from the leftmost reel - standard setup. The paytable divides into four tiers, and the split at the bottom matters more than it looks.

At the bottom: Orange, Lemon, Cherry, and Lime all pay identically - 0.20x your bet for three in a row, 0.48x for four, 2.0x for five. Four low symbols sharing one pay table means the base game lands low-tier wins frequently. At $2.50, a five-of-a-kind low symbol pays $5.

Mid tier: Strawberry, Bell, and Plum share the same values - 0.32x for three, 0.80x for four, 3.0x for five. Then Kiwi steps up to 0.40x / 1.60x / 6.0x, Raspberry to 0.48x / 3.0x / 10.0x, and Watermelon to 0.72x / 4.0x / 15.0x.

At the top: Lucky 7 and the Crown Wild pay identically - 1.0x for three, 5.0x for four, 24.0x for five. At $2.50 per spin, five Lucky 7s pays $60. Slotozilla explicitly confirms the "$60 when land in 5 (for $2.5 bet)" figure.

The clustering of four low symbols at one pay rate is what keeps base-game hit frequency relatively high. More combinations complete on the 50 lines because more symbol types share the same pay threshold.

The Crown Wild

The Crown Wild is the mechanic that separates Juicy Fruits from a standard 5x5 fruit slot.

In the base game it lands randomly as a solid block: 1x1, 2x2, 3x3, 4x4, or 5x5. A 3x3 block in the center of the grid covers nine positions and completes paylines that would otherwise have missed. A full 5x5 block occupies every position - all 25 cells, all 50 paylines. The Crown Wild pays the same as Lucky 7, so each payline that completes through the wild contributes 24x at five-of-a-kind.

In the free spins round, the Crown Wild becomes a roaming wild. It moves each spin and grows in size each time three diamond scatters are collected: 1x1 grows to 2x2, then 3x3, 4x4, and finally 5x5. At maximum size it covers the full grid. There are no win multipliers - the coverage is what drives the math, not a multiplier on each pay.

The 5000x theoretical maximum requires the Crown Wild to reach 5x5 during free spins, combined with optimal symbol positioning across all 50 paylines. In 1,717 spins, my best free spins bonus returned 102.92x. The gap between that and 5000x is where the deep variance lives.

My session high of 168.4x came from a base-game Crown Wild landing, not from a bonus round. A large block dropping in the base game can outperform a full bonus round when the symbol positioning works in its favor.

Free Spins: Six Spins and the Crown Wild

Three or more Diamond scatters anywhere on the 5x5 grid trigger free spins. The round starts at 6 free spins. A roaming Crown Wild is present for every spin in the feature from the start, beginning at 1x1.

The retrigger is what separates a 4x and a 102x bonus. During free spins, diamond scatters still land on the reels. Every three scatters collected does two things: adds 1 to 3 extra spins and upgrades the Crown Wild one size. The collection meter above the grid tracks progress toward the next upgrade.

Time2play reports the maximum achievable is around 18 free spins in a single run, with up to four retrigger opportunities. In my 1,717-spin session, every one of the 10 bonus rounds included at least one retrigger. The best bonus ran 11 free spins with 2 retriggers and returned 102.92x at $2.50. The worst ran 8 spins with one retrigger and returned 4.48x. That spread between 4.48x and 102.92x is what this mechanic actually produces.

One observation from the feature: the audio changes when free spins trigger. The base game's cocktail-lounge arrangement cuts away and something with more drive replaces it. After the first couple of triggers I stopped looking for the scatter count and started listening for that audio shift as the first signal that the feature had fired.

Ante Bet and Buy Bonus

Two feature-access options sit on a vertical panel to the left of the reels. Both are there from first load, outside the main control bar at the bottom of the screen.

Ante Bet adds 20% to each spin's cost and increases how often Diamond scatters land. At $2.50 per spin, Ante Bet pushes each spin to $3.00. It is designed for markets where direct bonus purchase is restricted - some licensed operators offer Ante Bet while blocking Buy Bonus entirely.

Buy Bonus costs 100x your current bet - $250 at $2.50 - and takes you directly into a free spins round. The condition: Ante Bet must be off before Buy Bonus becomes available. Activate Ante Bet and the Buy Bonus button disappears from the left panel immediately. The UI enforces this without any confirmation step.

The cost-versus-return math on Buy Bonus: my 10 bonuses in this session averaged around 40x total return each. Two bonuses above 90x and one above 70x lifted that average significantly. The other seven ranged from 4.48x to 61.40x. Buying the feature at 100x with those seven outcomes would have produced consistent losses. Buy Bonus is a session pacing tool, not a return-positive play over time.

My 1,717-Spin Demo Session

I ran the Pragmatic Play demo at $2.50 per spin. 1,717 paid spins, demo credits only.

Ten free spins triggers in 1,717 spins put this on the fortunate side. From other High volatility Pragmatic Play titles I have tested, that trigger rate felt ahead of typical. Every single bonus included at least one retrigger. That is why the top four payouts in this session were all 2-retrigger rounds.

The best bonus of the session came around spin 757: 11 free spins played, 2 retriggers, 102.92x total at $2.50. The worst came around spin 1,468: 8 spins, one retrigger, 4.48x. That range is what this mechanic actually delivers across a real session.

The session high at 168.4x did not come from free spins. It came from a large Crown Wild landing in the base game. I did not see a full 5x5 Crown Wild land in the base game during 1,717 spins - the block that produced the session high was a 4x4 or 3x3, and symbol alignment happened to work well on that spin.

The base hit rate of about 24% is higher than I expected for a game rated High volatility. The longest cold stretch I tracked was 22 consecutive spins without any win.

The pattern across 10 rounds: retrigger count determines outcome more than raw free spin count. Bonuses 1, 2, 3, and 5 each had 2 retriggers and produced the four highest returns. The remaining six had one retrigger each. Every single-retrigger bonus in this session landed below 62x.

Test limitations: This was one demo session of 1,717 spins with virtual credits - not real money. A single session of this length cannot determine long-run return rates. The session ran all 1,717 spins as planned. Features that did not trigger: no base-game 5x5 Crown Wild covering all 25 positions. The 5000x theoretical maximum was not approached - the largest single result was 168.4x and the best free spins bonus returned 102.92x.

What Works and What Does Not

What Works

  • RTP 96.51% sourced from Pragmatic Play's own game page - not an aggregator figure.
  • Base game hit rate around 24% in my session. Low-symbol clustering keeps base play from going dead between bonus triggers.
  • Crown Wild appears in the base game at any size. A large block landing without needing free spins can produce significant single-spin wins - session high was 168.4x from a base-game landing.
  • Retrigger mechanic inside free spins creates clear escalation: each additional retrigger grows the wild and adds spins, so you can track exactly where the bonus stands.
  • Ante Bet is a practical option in markets where Buy Bonus is blocked. +20% cost for more frequent scatter landings is a reasonable trade for players in restricted jurisdictions.
  • No jackpot overlay, no Hold and Win board - the game is mechanically clean. One core mechanic (Crown Wild), one bonus type (free spins).

What Does Not

  • The 5000x max win is a theoretical ceiling, not a session expectation. In 1,717 spins I reached 168.4x maximum. Reaching 5000x requires a 5x5 Crown Wild at full size in free spins with near-perfect symbol alignment.
  • Buy Bonus at 100x bet is a significant cost. At $2.50 that is $250 per feature entry. My session average bonus yield was around 40x across 10 triggers, but two bonuses above 90x carried that average.
  • No multipliers means free spins wins scale only through Crown Wild coverage. A bonus round where the wild stays small (few scatters collected) can pay well below the trigger cost.

How It Compares

LCB's review states explicitly that Juicy Fruits was "inspired by another release from Push Gaming regarding its math model." That release is Fat Rabbit.

Juicy Fruits vs. Fat Rabbit (Push Gaming). Fat Rabbit uses a narrower grid than the 5x5 here - same core mechanic, the wild grows through a scatter-collection round. The difference is scope: 50 lines on a 5x5 grid means more paylines resolve per spin than Push Gaming's original format. If the structure felt familiar when I loaded Juicy Fruits, that's why.

Juicy Fruits vs. Chicken Chase (Pragmatic Play). Chicken Chase is the same 5x5 engine from Pragmatic - Crown Wild feature, retrigger-driven bonus, no multipliers. I have played both and they feel close enough that my notes from one session transferred directly to understanding the other. The themes are different. The math is the same job.

Same-provider family - Juicy Fruits Multihold. Pragmatic released Juicy Fruits Multihold in December 2023, roughly two and a half years after the original. Multihold runs four instances of the game simultaneously on a four-grid format. The Crown Wild mechanic carries over, but the four-grid format changes how variance stacks across a session. This review covers the original single-grid version only.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the RTP of Juicy Fruits?

96.51%. This figure is published by Pragmatic Play on their official game page. Actual RTP is set by the operator running the game - the casino version you play may use a different value. Always check the paytable or game information screen in the specific version before playing for real money.

What is the maximum win in Juicy Fruits?

5000x your bet. This is confirmed across AskGamblers, Time2play, and LCB. Reaching 5000x requires a 5x5 Crown Wild at full size during free spins with optimal symbol alignment across all 50 paylines. In 1,717 demo spins my highest single result was 168.4x. Some databases list 8000x - that figure applies to Juicy Fruits Multihold (released December 2023), which is a different game. The original Juicy Fruits reviewed here has a 5000x cap.

How volatile is Juicy Fruits?

High. Confirmed independently by Slotozilla, Time2play, and AskGamblers. In my session: 10 free spins triggers across 1,717 spins, bonus payouts ranging from 4.48x to 102.92x, longest cold streak 22 spins. The hit rate of about 24% in base play is on the high side for a High volatility game - the low-symbol clustering keeps small wins coming, but the big variance is in the bonus round outcomes.

How do the free spins work?

Three or more Diamond scatters trigger the feature and award 6 free spins. A roaming Crown Wild starts at 1x1. During the feature, every 3 diamonds collected adds 1-3 free spins and grows the Crown Wild one size (1x1 to 2x2 to 3x3 to 4x4 to 5x5). Time2play reports the maximum achievable is around 18 free spins through retriggers. In my 10 bonus rounds, every bonus had at least one retrigger. Bonuses with 2 retriggers consistently produced higher payouts than those with one.

What is the Ante Bet?

Ante Bet adds 20% to each spin's cost and increases how often Diamond scatters land. At $2.50 per spin, Ante Bet makes each spin $3.00. It is mutually exclusive with Buy Bonus - when Ante Bet is active, the Buy Bonus button is removed from the left panel. Switch Ante Bet off and Buy Bonus reappears. Some regulated markets allow Ante Bet but block Buy Bonus, making it the only paid option for increasing scatter frequency.

What is Buy Bonus?

Buy Bonus costs 100x your current bet and takes you directly into a free spins round. At $2.50 per spin that is $250 per feature entry. Ante Bet must be off before Buy Bonus becomes available. Average bonus yield in my session was around 40x across 10 triggers, but two outlier bonuses pulled that average up. The seven remaining bonuses ranged from 4.48x to 61.40x.

Is there a gamble feature in Juicy Fruits?

No. There is no risk or gamble feature.

Is there a jackpot?

No. The 5000x theoretical max win is the ceiling. No progressive jackpot exists.

Does the Crown Wild appear in the base game?

Yes. It lands as a random-size block in the base game: 1x1, 2x2, 3x3, 4x4, or 5x5. A large Crown Wild in the base game can produce significant results without the free spins round. The highest single result in my session (168.4x) came from a base-game Crown landing.

When was Juicy Fruits released?

March 25, 2021 according to Slotozilla. Time2play lists March 24, 2021 - a one-day difference. Both sources agree on March 2021.
